Bookkeeper Exeter

If you are looking for a part time bookkeeping role with the flexibility this could be the role for you. This is a lovely opportunity working for an established thriving business based in Exeter City Centre. This company have an excellent reputation and are very well known in their field for 'doing things properly', the directors are proud of their reputation, offering excellent customer service is always high on their agenda, they work very ethically and are proud of doing things right, they are also proud of their staff and the working culture they have created. This is a permanent part time position hours of work are 8.30-5pm during Monday to Friday, the directors would like 3 set days but are flexible on working this around the right candidate ( days to be discussed) A good working environment is offered, flexibility and a work place pension. The main purpose of the role: Assist the Directors with the smooth running of the business account. Assist the Client Account Administrator when they are away, with the paying of clients and client account reconciliation. Specific areas of responsibility (The post holder will take a lead role in managing the business accounts) Duties will include: - Input approved invoices onto Sage data base - Inform directors of future expenditure - Receive invoices for the business and office premises (i.e. all bills, rents and service charges) - Sending emails to confirm remittance advice - Input receipts for MasterCard, fuel accounts and other accounts including petty cash. Enter on sage and reconcile - Keep all the filing systems in order - Pay inland revenue, PAYE and VAT - VAT returns. - Bank reconciliation of business account and Sage - Assisting Company Account with Audit - Produce Accounting journals, payroll and other journals. - Create sage invoices - To contribute to the smooth running of the office and housekeeping duties - To undertake other duties as requested, including from time to time, paying clients and reconciling the clients account when client account assistant is away. - Keeping records on contractors certificates and insurance - Assisting the directors with PA duties, eg organising and ordering stock, Health and Safety and personnel duties - To undertake other duties as requested Person Specification/Experience - Minimum of 3 years' experience of book keeping and Sage - Working in an office environment - Handling financial payment and accounts - Credit control - Dealing with all types of payments ie cash and BACS - Customer contact over the phone and in person - Maintaining electronic records (database) and manual financial records Skills/Abilities Good written and verbal communication skills, Organisational and account management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work to conflicting deadlines confident verbal communications when dealing with enquiries in person or over the telephone Confident verbal communications when dealing with enquiries in person or over the telephone financial management, with the ability to chase outstanding payments Financial management, with the ability to chase outstanding payments Financial record keeping with the ability to handle cash payments Ability to cope with demanding and busy periods and prioritising workloads Attributes Professional approach and presentation Friendly, 'can do' attitude A team worker IT Skills Microsoft Word for Windows, Outlook Express and Excel Accurate keyboard skills Maths/ accounting Working with data base (Sage Accounting, sage line 50) This vacancy is being handled on an exclusive agency basis by Gravitas Recruitment.
